UL 2703 Safety and Reliability of PV Mounting System Products

According to the National Electric Code, manufacturers must test and list all photovoltaic (PV) mounting systems to the UL 2703 Standard. UL 2703 covers various aspects of the mounting system, including the structural integrity, electrical grounding, and bonding of the system. Moreover, it evaluates the mounting system’s ability to withstand various environmental conditions, including wind, snow, and seismic loads.

IronRidge has tested all systems to UL2703, and subjected them to three times the safety factor, and performed in extreme environments. “We use the ICC AC-13 and ASTM D7147 test methods, which helps to ensure that the products used meet safety and performance standards. We test multiple parts then apply a 3x safety factor” explains Susan Stark, Senior Manager of Training Technical Service. UL 2582 Wind-Driven Rain Product Test

The UL 2582 wind-driven rain test evaluates the ability of the racking system to prevent water from penetrating the roof and causing damage to the building’s structure. Roof health is important as damage can start small and go unnoticed – until severe damage is well underway, resulting in costly repairs. IronRidge tests products to this Standard, to ensure they can withstand even the harshest weather conditions.

Technical Actuarial Standard 100 Compliance

Technical Actuarial Standard 100 (TAS 100) is a compliance requirement for insurance policies that cover solar panel installations. This standard sets forth guidelines for assessing the risk associated with the installation of solar panels. Subsequently it also provides insurers with information necessary for underwriting policies. IronRidge products comply with TAS 100 requirements, providing solar installers with added assurance that their installations are safe and reliable.
